Mob Rules in the Texas Legislature

I've literally never felt such a feeling of disgust in the pit of my stomach. Not even because Senate Bill 5 died (along with all the other legislation that the first special was called for), but because of what went on in the Capitol tonight. All thoughts of order and decorum went out the window. When the so-called #feministarmy in the gallery thought they weren't going to get their way, they reacted in the most absurd way I could imagine; nothing short of a down right, 2-year-old-style hissy fit....multiplied times however many of them were there. It was absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention, there were STATE REPRESENTATIVES in the Senate chamber egging them on, and waving their arms for them to keep going and to get louder.

This is not Jerry Springer. This is not a sport's arena. This is YOUR STATE LEGISLATURE. That behavior is the MOST unacceptable thing I have ever witnessed. Blatant disrespect and disregard for the democratic process. Don't get me wrong, I expected no more from the spectators in the gallery (though it still put knots in my stomach) but from STATE REPRESENTATIVES?! Weren't you elected to uphold and respect the democratic and legislative process?? The utter classlessness and disrespect from the trolls on twitter is completely expected; ridiculous, but expected. But for that to be considered "okay." For someone to think it's just peachy for them to scream over the Texas Senate trying to hold a vote, and assault a DPS officer in the Texas Capitol.

It's disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. We need better leadership than those that not only stood by and let it happen, but most definitely those that egged it on. And no matter what your views, you deserve a group of people representing you that don't conduct themselves like animals when they perceive they just might lose their fight.
